Cold Silken Tofu Recipe

As the year comes to a close, I’ve made a point of clearing my fridge and pantry of all its fresh produce and pastes etc to start my kitchen on a clean slate in the new year!

I found a lone silken tofu packet in my fridge that was expiring soon and thought I best get my monies worth!

Here is the quickest recipe for Cold Silken Tofu that can compliment any Asian dishes or can just be eaten with hot rice!

Ingredients

1 packet of silken tofu, water in packet drained

1-2 stalks of spring onions, finely sliced

1-2 tablespoon of grated ginger or julienned ginger

1 teaspoon Olive oil

1-2 tablespoon sesame oil

4-5 tablespoons of light soy sauce

1 teaspoon raw sugar

1/4 cup water

Optional  

Deep fried shallots, as garnish

Sesame seeds, as garnish

Method 

  1. Heat olive oil then add sesame oil
  2. Add ginger and fry till fragrant
  3. Add spring onions and fry till heated thru (not till wilted)
  4. Add light soy sauce, sugar and water and wait till liquid bubbles then switch off heat.
  5. Drain water in tofu pack and tip cold tofu onto serving plate.
  6. Pour hot sauce all over tofu and garnish if using.
  7. Serve immediately.
